The pharmaceutical industry is one of the largest and most exciting sectors to be working in today. There are few other industries that offer the variety, challenges, opportunities or rewards that come with the discovery and development of new medicines.

In the UK alone, the industry spends nearly £9 million per day researching and developing new and improved treatments for a wide range of diseases including cancer, arthritis, heart disease and mental illness. The success of the pharmaceutical industry in Britain is renowned throughout the world, and it is credited with discovering more leading medicines than any other country except the USA.

Most people are not aware of the wide range of jobs within the pharmaceutical industry and things are changing so fast that it is hard to keep up. Innovation has changed many of the traditional roles, and has created new types of job.
