Parents and careers advice

Research shows that parents have a major influence on their children's career choices.

Parents therefore need to make themselves aware of all the different options, and what qualifications are required for different careers.

Recent research for  the Sector Skills Council for the Construction Industry, ConstructionSkills, indicates that 71% of parents believe that the biggest influence on their children's career is one or both parents. Only 34% believes a teacher of career adviser has the biggest influence.
