Apprenticeships

You may start by doing an HNC, but could then move on to a degree or even a PhD.

Pharmaceutical companies recruit a small numbers of Apprentices at age 18 (and some at age 16). These are often in manufacturing or engineering areas, but a few companies offer apprenticeships in laboratory areas as well.

apprenticeLaboratory technicians would be responsible for performing tasks such as:

  • sampling
  • testing
  • measuring and recording
  • supporting research and development
  • scientific analysis and investigation

Look at which companies offer this in the Pharmaceutical Recruiters section of the website.

All Apprenticeships include day release for further study, often leading to BTEC National or Higher National qualifications. It is often possible to progress to an Honours degree which will also be studied for part time.

These opportunities are advertised in the local press and may also be featured on various pharmaceutical company websites.
